Ludus Instrumentalis & Evgeny Sviridov

Evgeny Sviridov
Born in 1989 in St-Petersburg, Evgeny Sviridov was still a student at the Conservatory when he became a laureate of major international competitions such as the Menuhin Competition in Cardiff and the Paganini Competition in Genova in 2008.

He won the first prize in the Bach Competition in Leipzig in 2010; this persuaded him to turn to authentic ways of playing (Historically Informed Practice) and to study Baroque more thoroughly.

Since 2015 Evgeny lives in Cologne, Germany, and is concertmaster of the world-class baroque ensemble Concerto Köln.

As guest-concertmaster Evgeny leads various baroque orchestras around Europe, such as Il Pomo d’Oro and B’Rock. He has played as a soloist in many festivals including: Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, MA Festival in Bruges, Bachfest in Leipzig, Barocktage Berlin and the Cremona music festival, joining forces with Dorothee Oberlinger and countertenor Andreas Scholl.

Evgeny co-founded the baroque ensemble Ludus Instrumentalis which won first prize in the Berlin Bach competition in 2015 and the “Brothers Grauns” Competition in 2016.

In 2017 he won the first prize and the audience prize in the Bruges International Musica Antiqua competition. In 2019 Evgeny’s CD recording of the Guiseppe Tartini Violin Sonates with the label Outhere, won the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik in Germany.

Evgeny’s future engagements include solo recitals in Philharmonic Köln and Zaryadye Hall in Moscow and he will return to the festivals in Bruges, Menton and Potsdam. He has recording engagements with the labels Ricercar and Pentatone in which a release of a CD with rarely played Trio-Sonatas of Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, famous pupil of Bach, is planned.
