Juri Vallentin
is always looking for new forms of expression and storytelling on his instrument, a quest that has earned him a place among the most outstanding young musicians of our time. His objective is to constantly develop modern contexts for classical music from baroque to contemporary. Juri Vallentin was born in Mainz and studied in Nuremberg and at the famous Conservatoire de Paris, where he graduated with distinction. In 2021, he was appointed professor for oboe at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe.
His artistic activities are documented by his debut album, BRIDGES, which features music spanning five centuries, as well as by numerous radio productions for German broadcasters BR, SWR and Deutschlandfunk. 2022 will see the release of his second album, EBENBILD, which combines music and literature and is inspired in its form and interpretation by early baroque poetry.
ensemble reflektor
The young chamber orchestra ensemble reflektor envisions itself as messenger of a music culture without boundaries.
The musicians of the orchestra develop programs collectively, in which diverse works across different genres thematically interconnect, thereby illuminating each other. Whether in clubs or in industrial warehouses, as an orchestra or in chamber groups, the befriended musicians create a special proximity to their audience through their original programming and innovative concert formats, building new gateways to classical music.
Following their debut album „Gewaltakt,“ which received rave reviews in the press, the ensemble released their second album „Liebeslied“ in 2020. Both CDs were released by PASCHENrecords and recorded under the leadership of Thomas Klug, a very important mentor and regular conductor of the ensemble.
With its concert programs, ensemble reflektor has been invited to perform in Konzerthaus Berlin, the Alte Oper Frankfurt and the ZKM Karlsruhe (Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe), as well as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker (Hitzacker Summer Music Festival) and the Detect Classic Festival (Berlin). ensemble reflektor is the laureate of the 2020 NORDMETALL-Ensemblepreis of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is the first orchestra to receive the honor.
In the previous year, the ensemble received the Max-Brauer-Prize of the Alfred Toepfer Trust F.V.S. for its civic engagement in northern Germany.
