Lorenzo Coppola
was born in Rome. He studied historical clarinet under the guidance of Eric Hoeprich at The Hague Royal Conservatory.
After moving to Paris in 1991, he began collaborating with various ensembles specialized in playing on historical instruments, including Freiburger Barockorchester, Les Arts Florissants La Petite Bande, XVIII Century Orchestra, La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy and Libera Classica.
He has shared his love for chamber music with artists such as Andreas Staier, Isabelle Faust, Alexander Melnikov, Bernhard Forck, Hidemi Suzuki, Kuijken Quartet, Ensemble Zefiro, Manon Quartett, and Quatuor Terpsycordes.
He has recorded significant pieces of the clarinet repertoire, including Mozart's Quintet K. 581 with the Kuijken Quartet, the Concerto K. 622 with the Freiburger Barockorchestee, Mozart's Serenades K. 375, 388 and 370a with the Zefiri Ensemble, Brahm's Sonatas with Andreas Staier, as well as Mozart and Beethoven's Quintets for piano & winds with the Dialoghi Ensemble.
Lorenzo Coppola has been teaching historical clarinet at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona (Spain) since 2004
