The Judith Goldbach Quartet
was founded in 2009. Inspired by the music of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, the band, led by jazz bassist Judith Goldbach, creates its own unique musical soundscape. The captivating simplicity and sometimes raw directness of Hungarian folk music, whose emotional depth already moved Bartók, is captured and perfectly showcased in Goldbach's own compositions and arrangements. Energetic improvisations by the entire quartet contrast with duo pieces of minimalist fragility. In this way, Bartók's expressionistic timbre meets sophisticated modern jazz.
