Info for Color Gradient

Since we met while studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 2010 and after a few years of concerts and exploration, we are happy to be able to realise a project that has been close to our hearts for a long time: the recording of our first album. Together we have designed the programme Color Gradient, which includes works composed between the end of the 19th century and the present day. The programme is a journey from France to America and from so-called classical music to quasi-improvised music. Color Gradient can be seen as a tribute to the incredible stylistic and aesthetic developments in music during the 20th century in terms of harmony, form and melodic freedom.

The composers featured on the album are Widor, Debussy, Poulenc, Bernstein, Schnyder, Templeton and finally the young French composer Fabien Touchard, who wrote his piece 'Envol (un sourire)' for us for this recording.

We were lucky enough to record in the summer of 2022 in a beautiful, quiet and very pleasant venue and in a privileged and serene environment in the north of the Netherlands (D'Rentmeester in Valthermond). We collaborated with 7 Mountain Records and its founder and sound engineer Frerik De Jong, with whom Flore had already worked previously on the recording of O schöne Nacht, with the vocal quartet Damask.
