Having joined the ensemble of Deutsche Oper Berlin at the age of 22 and the ensemble of Wiener Staatsoper in 2013, Israeli-born Hila Fahima presents a mix of well-known selections and rediscovered treasures on her debut album: Donizetti’s Lucia, Norina, Linda di Chamounix, Adina, Marie from La fille du regiment, plus Verdi’s Gilda – she will be starring in this role at this year’s Bregenz Festival – and also Amalia from his I masnadieri, as well as arias from Donizetti’s little-known operas Rosmonda d’Inghilterra and Emilia di Liverpool.

Hila Fahima
The Israeli coloratura soprano Hila Fahima is in demand on the international stages. Fahima was an ensemble member at Wiener Staatsoper, where she has appeared as Gilda in “Rigoletto”, Princesse Eudoxie in “La Juive”, Zerbinetta in “Ariadne auf Naxos”, as Nanetta conducted by Zubin Mehta in “Falstaff”, Sidonie in Gluck’s “Armide” conducted by Marc Minkowski, Oscar in “Un Ballo in Maschera”, Sophie in “Werther”, Servilia in “La Clemenza di Tito”, Fiakermilli in “Arabella” and more…

Roles added recently at the Vienna State Opera for the season 2017/18 include Die Königin der Nacht in “Die Zauberflöte” and Dalinda in a new production of “Ariodante” conducted by William Christie. Other highlights are the role of Giunia in a world premiere of “Lucio Silla” at Theater Basel, Faure’s “Requiem” with the L’Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, Handel’s “Ariodante“ on tour with Les Arts Florissants and a revival of “Rigoletto” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Recent engagements include her house debut at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse as Blondchen in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, Poulenc’s Gloria at the Prague spring Festival, her debut at Oper Graz as Die Königin der Nacht in a new production of “Die Zauberflöte”, a role she has also performed at the Waldbühne in Berlin, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and, most recently, for the Aalto Theater Essen. Ein junger Hirte in a concert performance of “Tannhäuser” at the BBC Proms with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, concerts with the NDR Radiophilharmonie in their “Podium der Jungen” series, Amore in “Orfeo et Euridice”, Oscar in “Un Ballo in Maschera” and Gilda, all at The New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv.

Ms Fahima is a former ensemble member of Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she appeared as Ninetta in “Love of Three Oranges”, Jano in “Jenufa”, Najade in “Ariadne auf Naxos”, Semele in Strauss’ “Die Liebe der Danae”, Ruggiero in “Tancredi”, Nannetta in “Falstaff”, 1st Niece in “Peter Grime”s and more.

Whilst in the New Israeli Opera Studio, Ms Fahima sang roles such as Papagena in “Die Zauberflöte”, Adele in “Die Fledermaus”, Sandmännchen and Taumännchen in “Hänsel und Gretel”, and gave a critically acclaimed role debut as Alice in “Alice in Wonderland” by David Sebba. She has given numerous recitals and concerts throughout Israel in varied repertoire, with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra IBA, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Israel Symphony Orchestra Conductors she has worked with include Donald Runnicles, Adam Fischer, Kazushi Ono, Mikko Franck, Andrew Litton, Enrique Mazzola, Ulf Schirmer, Steven Sloane, Jesús López-Cobos, Stefan Soltesz, Marco Amiliato, Dan Ettinger and Alberto Zedda. Ms Fahima graduated from the Jerusalem Rubin Academy for Music and Dance, where she studied with Agnes Massini.

Awards include 1st prize in the European Vocal Competition DEBUT 2010 and 1st prize at the “Stella Maris” 2013 Singing Competition, and 2nd Price on the International Singing Competition of Toulouse.
