Info for Ô-Celli in America

The Ô-Celli ensemble brings together eight talented cellists, soloists, chamber musicians and concert performers. For their 10th anniversary, they combine their energies and share with you their vision of the American dream. Eight cellists come together in an astonishing program, in love with freedom, singing that everything is possible. Each arrangement is a challenge for them. It reflects an innate sense of pleasure in the service of music, inviting opera, jazz and blues. Composer Harold Noben offers them his vision of America through the triptych American wanders, while Michel Herr composes an astonishing Duke Ellington medley.

What can sound better than a cell? Eight cellos! This instrument, the closest to the human voice, is one of the few which carries being multiplied. When played together with others, the beauties of this instrument add up, giving birth to a unique, full and exceptional sound. Ô-Celli was brought to life by the shared passion of eight cellists, comber musicians and concertists, for this exceptional vibration they created. Together they take us on a fabulous journey through a repertoire of both original and arranged pieces as they eagerly travel through a wide musical panel, ranging from Tchaikovsky to Strauss, passing by the music of Piazzolla and Nino Rota.

Ô-Celli

Ô-Celli
What is lovelier than a cello? Eight cellos!

The cello, as the instrument closest in sound to the human voice, is probably one of the only ones that can successfully be multiplied, confronted with itself. In fact, its qualities become more pronounced, forming a unique, full sound suitable for a huge range of repertoire.

Ô-Celli was born of eight cellists’ passion for this almost supernatural vibration. In chamber music or concertante mode, their repertoire covers original compositions and made-to-measure arrangements, from Bach to Strauss by way of John Williams and Villa-Lobos.
