Biography Trio Céleste feat. Iryna Krechkovsky
Trio Céleste
Based in Orange County, California, Trio Céleste is quickly establishing itself as one of the most important chamber music ensembles in the country. Winners of the prestigious Beverly Hills Auditions in Los Angeles, the ensemble has performed extensively throughout North America and Asia and has appeared in collaboration with principal members of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Afiara String Quartet. Highlights of their 2014 / 2015 season include national and international recital tours in Bangkok, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Toronto.
Trio Céleste is currently Ensemble-in-Residence at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine where they recently presented the complete piano trio works of Ludwig van Beethoven including performances of the Triple Concerto with the UC Irvine Symphony Orchestra at the Irvine Barclay Theater and the Capistrano Conductor’s Institute Orchestra at the Marcus D. Hurlbut Theater in Southern California. In 2013 the ensemble was selected from over four hundred applicants to be Artists-in-Residence at the Grand Canyon National Park with violist Michelle Gasworth where they performed and led educational outreach projects throughout the South Rim.
Committed to fostering a love for chamber music in the next generation of performing artists, Trio Céleste directs the UC Irvine’s Summer Chamber Music Festival and regularly presents masterclasses, educational forums, and outreach events at schools and universities worldwide. They are also the principal ensemble of Chamber Music | OC, one of the most dynamic classical music projects in the country dedicated to advancing the art of chamber music through performance, education, and community outreach.
“Trio Céleste is one of the best young chamber groups around today. Violinist Iryna Krechkovsky, cellist Ross Gasworth, and pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks combine to form an exciting, dynamic and intelligent ensemble. They are each strong instrumentalists in their own right and they have what only the best groups have: an understanding of each other’s emotions, the ability to play with both power and subtlety, and what can best be described as a spark. This group has that almost magical spark.”
- Philip Setzer, Violinist, Emerson String Quartet
“Trio Celeste is a refreshing and welcome new force on the music scene. Krechkovsky, Gasworth, and Loucks bring very individual profiles to this exciting new ensemble. Each is a finely honed soloist with expert instrumental command, sparkling vitality and an instantly engaging communicativeness. The driving force behind this vibrant young group is a common vision, fierce integrity, sophistication, and a genuinely inclusive disposition toward their audience. The crackling enthusiasm comes as an extra bonus.”
- Julian Martin, Professor of Piano, The Juilliard School
“Trio Celeste has emerged as a tremendously positive presence in Orange County, making classical music accessible to a broader audience in numerous ways. As Artists-in-Residence here at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, they continue to generously give their time to our youth programs as well as to our enrolled students, allowing them rare and holistic insight into the life of a classical performance musician. They continue to keep the tradition of chamber music alive in dynamic and inspiring ways.”
