Info for Transmissions from the Bird's Eye

The message must be clear. It's about the energy, the groove. Artful and virtuoso. The heat of the moment in the musical interaction, cheered on by bandleader Daniel "Booxy" Aebi.

"The band name can be understood as a homage to Art Blakey. We celebrate the sound of the 60s, which still resonates today, but also throw a certain rhythmic stubbornness into the mix with our compositions." Daniel "Booxy" Aebi

In times when cultural appropriation is on everyone's lips, the band asks whether we are still allowed to play "jazz" - and call it that at all? Anyone who listens to THE MESSAGE will understand the message: Yes, we can! Yes, we may!

This music has been enriched by influences and musicians from all over the world since its inception. It's about respect.

Tenor and trombone, the smoothest horn section on earth, especially with Hans Koller Award winner Herwig Gradischnig (Vienna Art Orchestra) and Mario Vavti (Toots Thielemans, Philip Harper etc.). Carinthian bassist Philipp Zarfl took the Viennese jazz scene by storm. Band leader Daniel "Booxy" Aebi comes from Switzerland and started his career with the well-known funk band "Grand Mother's Funck".

A luminary on the piano is the American pianist Peter Madsen. From Stan Getz to the avant-garde, he pulls out all the stops in jazz and has one foot deep in funk and soul.

Daniel „Booxy“ Aebi
