David Schmoll
Composer/Producer David Schmoll began working as a full-time professional musician in 1978. In 1996, he took a deep dive into music for comedy, and found a whole new way of thinking about how music works. During a 12-year stint as Musical Director of Boom Chicago, he met and began working with writer/actor/comedienne Amber Ruffin, and their collaboration remains ongoing.
After co-writing and producing countless songs for Amber to sing on Late Night With Seth Meyers, and 3 seasons of working as Musical Director of The Amber Ruffin Show, Schmoll launched two solo projects. He is currently releasing a series of neoclassical solo piano pieces, while also composing and producing atmospheric ambient music under the brand name “das ambient works.”
Schmoll’s latest collaboration, with Amber Ruffin and Kevin Sciretta - Bigfoot The Musical - has been produced in Las Vegas and Austin, and recently had a staged reading with an allstar cast at “Broadway’s Livingroom,” 54 Below. The success of this presentation lead to an invitation to continue developing the show at the New York Stage And Film summer workshop series.
