Info for Friends for Christmas

John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John have teamed up to release their new album, „Friends for Christmas“. This album contains newly recorded covers of everyone’s favourite Christmas songs including „Silent night“, „Let It Snow“, „Have Yourself A Merry Christmas“ and many more.

The album embodies a traditional Christmas sound whilst showcasing the ever impressive vocals of John and Olivia.

As John Farnham explains, “I have always loved working with Olivia. To record a Christmas album seemed like the right, almost inevitable thing to do. I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as we loved recording it together”.

“It was such a joy singing these beautiful holiday songs with my favourite singer and good mate John Farnham,” said Olivia Newton-John. “The holidays are about family and friends and having this chance to sing these classics with John was pure fun from beginning to end!”

Ironically the opening track, Let It Snow, is not really a Christmas song. Songwriters Sammy Cahn and Julie Styne wrote the song during a heatwave in Hollywood in July 1945 about imagining cooler conditions. It wasn’t used as a Christmas song until 1962 when Bing Crosby included it on his We Wish You A Merry Christmas album.

John Farnham had eighteen top ten singles in Australia between 1967 and 1997 including three number 1's.

Olivia Newton-John has been a multi-faceted entertainer since the early-70's. Her latest album, LivOn with Beth Nielsen-Chapman and Amy Sky, was released last Friday.
