Legendary pianist Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938) left a huge catalog of over 400 pieces and over half are transcriptions, arrangements or paraphrases for piano.

This recording offers an eclectic overview of the art of transcription of Godowsky through his finest achievements. Singular pianist, imbued with an amazing charisma, Laurent Wagschal proposes a poetic reading of his most famous standards, Etudes de Chopin, through the American national anthem, Le Cygne by Saint-Saëns, Bach or few Schubert Lieder and Schumann.

Laurent Wagschal
began his career as a solo and chamber pianist after having graduated with a first prize from the National Conservatory of Paris. He has won numerous international prizes and has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras such as the Orchestre d’Auvergne and the Orchestre Classica of Moscow. His discography counts more than 20 records, some of them critically acclaimed such as his recording of the Saint-Saëns’s complete chamber music for winds which was nominated in three categories for the Victoires de la Musique 2011. His latest work 'Paul Dukas - L'œuvre pour piano' was released in 2013.
