In this first volume of a trilogy dedicated to Beethoven, the Quatuor Dutilleux (Dutilleux Quartet) showcases works of the composer's youth, when he would "receive Mozart's spirit from Haydn's hands," as Count Waldstein phrased it. Haydn's last quartet passes the baton to Beethoven's first quartet, with Mozart's monumental Adagio and Fugue acting as the "Statue of the Commander".

Quatuor Dutilleux
Four complementary artists, four sought-after musicians who together made a choice: that of the string quartet. Then the world of Henri Dutilleux naturally invited itself in, a refined world of memory and invention, in which great freedom is expressed. The quartet recognised itself in this world and humbly took the name of the master.

Guillaume Chilemme, Matthieu Handtschoewercker, David Gaillard and Thomas Duran then imagined a mosaic for their quartet, whose tesserae would take the form of works from the great repertoire of the past and present, original creations drawing on their talents as composers, encounters with artists from various fields or with talented young musicians at the beginning of their careers...
