Info for Ellipsism

Ellipsism - n. sadness that you’ll never be able to know how history will turn out, that you’ll dutifully pass on the joke of being alive without ever learning the punchline…

Ellipsism is the debut LP from singer/songwriter/composer Alexander Carson, former founding member of genre fluid quintet Wooden Arms. Since WA took a break Carson has been working behind the scenes with artists like Moses Sumney, EX:RE, and Jamie T to hone his solo sound.

Ellipsism draws from the overall feeling that we’re all going to die but that’s kind of okay when you really think about it. Inspired in part by Baudelaire’s “La Fleur du Mal (The Flowers of Evil)” and regular hospital visits to see his loved ones in various states of distress. Ellipsism addresses this point: To love fully and madly you have to understand loss, both fully, and most definitely madly. Because this too shall pass. But with this understanding comes a sense of clarity, hope and optimism - love endures death, for better or for worse.

Produced and Engineered by Alexander Carson and Dan Jeffries

““Lovers” is a perfect blend of modern songwriting and classical musicianship.” - Line of Best Fit

“Sounding at times like an Irish prayer and others a bit Bowie-ish, but never dull or less challenging.” - Where the Music Meets

“The fragile vocals and piano playing are unmistakably Alex – a distinctive timbre and delicate working of the keys that always reminds slightly of Anthony and the Johnsons” - Outline Magazine
