Info for Farkost
The former trio has now become a quintet, with the addition of saxophone player Tore Brunborg and trumpet player Jakob Eri Myhre. «Farkost» offers a lovely and exciting journey through nine original compositions.
One can easily find connections between music and movement. The direction of a melody, the atmosphere in a harmonic motion or the energy of interplay. One can think of music as sound waves in motion or feel how the music makes your body move. Motion is a huge inspiration to Hullyboos new album. The album title «Farkost» is norwegian and translates to vessel. This album is a vessel that takes the listener on a journey over both known and unknown musical oceans.
Hullyboo started out as a trio in 2009. Like the other Øra Fonogram band Molecules, they won the «Jazz i Sikte», a competition arranged by the jazz festival Nattjazz in Bergen (NO). In 2012 Hullyboo released their first album «Bønner og Flesk» (NORCD) to great reviews. Bergens Tidende” gave the album 5 out of 6 stars and said: «solid instrumentation, yet playful and good interplay». The french blogger Monsieur Délire said it was: « a mixture between ECM jazz and post rock», while JazziNorge said «jazz musicians that play exceptionally melodic, harmonically and great music».
This year Hullyboo celebrates 10 years as a band, and with a new record. The new music is hushed and balmy, yet also lively. “The music is open and airy and with confidence to relax and just cruise along” - Dag og Tid. The members of the band are known from playing with many other artists and bands like Tord Gustavsen, Manu Katché, Skadedyr, Arne Torvik Trio and Fagernes Yacht Klubb.

Tore Brunborg
The Trondheim-born jazz saxophonist is known for his lyrical and emotional style. Brunbor is one of the most important musicians on the Scandinavian jazz scene and has already played with artists such as Arild Anderson and Manu Katché
during his career. His playing is characterised by a deep melodic sensibility and improvisation. In addition to his work as a soloist, Brunberg is also active as a sideman and, as a sought-after musician, characterises the European jazz landscape with his characteristic sound.
