The current musical aesthetics of the leader*s compositions are based on both the sound worlds of the Indian Ocean and jazz through its harmonic approach and its improvised parts, hence the choice of the voice served admirably by Jean-Louis LEON. The 2006 album project entitled "Mascamad" (released in November 2006) perfectly synthesizes this singular universality.
Jean-Pierre JOSEPHINE (JOZÉFINN'), leader, self-taught guitarist, has been influenced by local and regional music (Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, Seychelles) as well as "international" music, notably jazz (Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Clifford Brown, ...), Brazilian music, Soul (Motown label : Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin ...), "progressive" rock, pop (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jeff Beck, Donald FAGEN ...), or also more purely traditional music (Carnatic music from India, ...).
