Info for Amsterdam (Live)
"It's difficult to capture the magic of a live show. I hope this attempt comes very close." Luka Bloom really has nothing to worry about; with Amsterdam, he brilliantly succeeded in capturing the electrifying atmosphere of a stage performance in the Dutch metropolis on record. On February 11, 2002, he gave a fantastic concert there in front of 1,500 fans, some of whom had flown in from all over the world. With only an acoustic guitar around his neck, he captivated the audience from the very first note and created a wonderful atmosphere that was surely an unforgettable experience for those present and can even be felt at home via the compact disc. Fantastic!
On the frosty winter evening, the folk musician from Ireland warmed the souls of his fans with songs from all phases of his career. Kevin Barry Moore, who only chose the stage name Luka Bloom in 1987, drawing on Suzanne Vega's song "My Name Is Luka" and the character Bloom in James Joyce's novel Ulysses, sang the early work "Delirious" (from the 1990 album Riverside), which deals with his years in New York and reflects the experiences of many of his fellow countrymen as emigrants abroad. The passionate conservationist from Newbridge, County Kildare, addressed the fight to preserve the threatened Mullaghmore landscape in the Burren in "Fertile Rock" (Turf, 1994). And in "Monsoon" (Between The Mountain And The Moon, 2002), he compared love and sex in lyrical verse to the elemental power of a tropical storm.
"It must have been a wonderful night in Amsterdam, and this album captured it beautifully. Goosebumps!" (HIFI TEST)

Luka Bloom
In 1972 Barry Moore wrote a song called WAVE UP TO THE SHORE. Not his first song, but it had something. He did some gigs, wrote some songs; and in 1987 he boarded a plane for New York, and Luka Bloom was born. Riverside was released in 1990 on REPRISE Records and it was followed by THE ACOUSTIC MOTORBIKE, AND TURF.
During the early 1990s the life of writing, recording and touring took off. The US, Australia, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, and The UK are frequent destinations for Luka’s songs. As well as his own touring, he has performed at some of the great festivals: Pinkpop (Holland); Roskilde (Denmark), Torhout\Werchter (Belgium), Newport Folk Festival (US) Byron Blues Festival(Australia), Glastonbury and Cambridge, (UK). And most of all, he regularly sings all over the island of Ireland, where he lives in County Clare.
