Although it has been clearly established for which instruments the Musical Offering and the Art of Fugue were intended, the Musical Offering has continued to be the object of realisations for other instruments, such as Anton Webern's orchestrated version of the Ricercar à 6. Here Cindy Castillo marks the completion of a new organ in the German baroque style by Dominique Thomas in the church of Saint-Loup in Namur with her own realisation of this work, a monument to the late Baroque style.

Cindy Castillo
stands out on the organ scene with programs that explore possible crossovers between the organ and other artistic languages ​​such as electronic music, poetry, video… or with programs that, quite simply, offer a renewed look at the organ repertoire.

Graduate of the Conservatories of Brussels, Namur, Strasbourg and Paris, winner of the Rotary, Vocation, Wernaers and Lacour Foundations, First Prize of the National Axion Classics Competition (Belfius), her masters were Benoît Mernier, Jean Ferrard, Christophe Mantoux, Michel Bouvard and Olivier Latry. In 2008-2009, she was designated artist in residence at the Sapporo Concert Hall (Japan). Named “Namuroise of the year 2024”, Heritage section, she is, this summer 2025, associate artist of the Wallonia Festivals.

Cindy Castillo teaches organ at the Royal Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur (IMEP) as part of the project entitled OrgueStudio. Since 2023, she has been titular curator and artistic director of the new Thomas organ at the Saint-Loup church in Namur.

If his latest discographic recordings have been devoted to Belgian composers or those living in Belgium such as César Franck, Joseph Jongen, Claude Ledoux, Jean-Pierre Deleuze, Pierre Slinckx and Maxime Denuc (for the labels Musique en Wallonie, Paraty, Cyprès, Vlek), his new album is dedicated to the Musical Offering of Johann Sebastian Bach (Ricercar label). His album Fragments received the Octave for Contemporary Music in 2015.

Working in conjunction with today’s composers, she is preparing to create scores by Adrien Tsilogiannis, Alice Hebborn, Pierre Slinckx, Denis Bosse and Jean-Pierre Deleuze, solo or with her privileged partners such as the violinist Frédéric d’Ursel or the Sturm und Klang ensemble conducted by Thomas Van Haeperen.

Lab’Organetto is a project that Cindy Castillo created around the portable organ, one of the smallest variations of the organ. A true nomadic laboratory, this portable organ allows composers of all kinds to get closer to the king instrument. Through its possibility of dynamic wind management and its transportable nature, it opens up new possibilities for exploration. After receiving scores from Pierre Slinckx, Hampus Lindwall, Adrien Tsilogiannis, Jean-Pierre Deleuze, he recently participated in the Chant du Monde creation project composed with four hands by Alice Hebborn and Pierre Slinckx.
