Info for SHARING: Thomas Fonnesbæk Trio
Through the last years Danish bassist Thomas Fonnesbaek has evolved to one of the best and in demand bass playeres in the world playing and recording with other top artistssuch as Enrico Pieranunzi, Justin Kauflin, Lars Jansson, Sinne Eeg, Monty Alexander, Arron Parks and many others. Fonnesbaek has synesthesia (the ability to “see” music as colors in his mind). Combined with equillibristic skills on his instrument this make him a remarkable musician. There are no weaknesses in Thomas Fonnesbæk’s playing. A strong melodic, harmonic and rhythmic sense makes him a complete musician. As a composer he is influenced by both the Scandinavian melancholy and the American jazz tradition. Thomas Fonnesbæk and Justin Kauflin are ready to follow up on the critically acclaimed album Synethesia from 2017. This time they are joined by Billy Williams on drums, making this a trio record. The result is ‘Sharing,’ and it is nothing short of extraordinary.

Thomas Fonnesbak Trio
Is a new world class piano trio with piano prodegy Justin Kauflin (US), bassist Thomas Fonnesbaek (DK) and drummer Billy Williams (US). Both Justin Kauflin and Thomas Fonnesbaek have synesthesia (the ability to ”see” music as colors) which results in an exciting musical interplay beyond this world.
The 3 band members met fort he first time when they were put together for a concert at the Jazz Club Montmartre in Copenhagen. Justin Kauflin was so excited about the interplay with Thomas Fonnesbaek that he invited him to play with him in Europe. And so the trio Kauflin/Fonnesbæk/Williams was born.
In 2018 the album ”Synesthesia” was released with the duo ”Thomas Fonnesbæk/Justin Kauflin“. Later in 2018 an upcomming album will be released with this trio ”Kauflin/Fonnesbæk/Williams”. In 2019 the trio with be touring Europe and Asia.
Justin Kauflin is one of the greatest piano talents of contemporary jazz. He has already built a huge fan base all over the world. Kauflin lost his sight as a child, and as a young player he was taken under the wings of two legends: first trompet player, Clark Terry, and later producer, Quincy Jones (Michael Jackson etc.). They both have a great part of Justin Kauflin’s succes.
Thomas Fonnesbæk has during the last years developed to one of the best bassists in the world recording and touring with musicians such as Monty Alexander, Enrico Pieranunzi, Aaron Parks, Sinne Eeg, Lars Jansson and many others. He is an equilibrist on his instrument and a complete musician with a very strong sense of both rhythm, harmony and melody. Besides his instrumental skills Fonnesbæk is also a very talented composer.
Billy Williams is from Virginia. He has worked professionally with top names such as Ellis Marsalis, Christian McBride, Benny Golson, Steve Wilson and Larry Willis just to mention a few.
