Info for Duets

What you have here is my take on improvised music. On this record you will find some of my favourite musicians from around the world. Nine different musicians, each with their own personal story to tell and their own particular way of making music. I chose the duo format because I find it a very interactive setting, and also an intimate and authentic atmosphere to improvise in.

This record sums up the last couple of years of my musical process and it is my intention to present some honest music by me as a musician and artist

"... an impressive debut album from a strong individualist, capable of being himself throughout the whole album... The Album is strongly recommendable to the picky jazz listener, who wants to listen to fresh, danish world class improv..." (jazznyt.blogspot.dk)

“...the project leader Daniel Sommer’s vision makes the album a coherent whole. Sommer’s playing is more like landscape painting than regular timekeeping...One feels eager to hear more of Sommer’s music. The album is a convincing artistic statement…." (Pentti Ronkanen. SuomiJazz.com)

Daniel Sommer
is a Danish drummer living in Copenhagen. Being born (1987) in Aarhus, Denmark in a musical family Daniel Sommer has always been surrounded by music. He started playing drums when he was 5 years old and started to perform with different bands when he was 13 years old. He is widely known for his sensitive and creative drumming and he has been touring all over the world.

Sommer has contributed to a wide range of releases ranging from minimalist avant-garde to highly swinging straight ahead - which has won great praise among critics. Sommer's musical flexibility and sharp contrasts create the right conditions for the music to never lose its grip.
