Nicolas van Poucke, piano

Nicolas van Poucke
a Dutch pianist acclaimed as a "true poetic musician" by De Volkskrant, captivates audiences worldwide with his expressive and nuanced performances. He has graced prestigious venues including Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Berlin Philharmonie, as well as performing in the USA, Canada, Cuba, Iran, South Korea, and throughout Europe.

As a soloist, Nicolas has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia Rotterdam. Notably, he made his London debut at the Royal Festival Hall, delivering a mesmerizing rendition of Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto with the Chineke! Orchestra under the baton of Roderick Cox.

Nicolas is steadfast in his commitment to solo recitals, presenting two diverse programs annually at the esteemed Concertgebouw. Renowned as a leading interpreter of Chopin, Schumann, and Beethoven, his repertoire spans from Sweelinck to Scriabin and Debussy, showcasing his versatility and dedication to musical exploration.

In addition to his captivating live performances, Nicolas's discography showcases his versatility and artistry. His most recent album, a direct-to-disc recording of Chopin's masterpieces, has earned accolades for its virtuosity and sensitivity. As noted by The Arts Desk, "The playing is sensitive and nuanced, especially in the F-sharp Polonaise op.44, with some lovely voicings in the inner parts, and whose weightiness belies Chopin’s reputation as a miniaturist." Furthermore, the release of "The Schumann Collection Vol. ll" has further solidified Nicolas's reputation as a leading interpreter of Schumann's works.

Nicolas hails from a musical family and began playing the piano at the age of six. He honed his craft at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under esteemed mentors such as David Kuyken and Jan Wijn.
