Info for Watt's Cooking (Remastered 2014)

Born in 1925 in Glasgow, Scotland, during the 1950s Tommy Watt led a big band comprised of the very finest jazz musicians Britain had to offer. The line-up that features on 1959's Watts Cooking is enough to make any British jazz aficionado foam at the mouth: among the musicians are Tubby Hayes (tenor sax/vibes), Ronnie Ross (baritone sax/clarinet), Johnny Scott (alto sax/flute/piccolo), Arthur Watts (bass), Phil Seamen (drums), with Watts himself playing keyboards. As you'd expect, with players of the calibre onboard, the music sounds fantastic, and with elegance and precision the band swings its way through a set including originals (Watt's Crumpets for the Count and Hayes's Embargo on Escargot) and evergreens such as Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries and Black Coffee.
