was born in Toggenburg, Switzerland and studied at the Zurich University of the Arts with Hadassa Schwimmer and Karl-Andreas Kolly. He earned both his teaching and concert diplomas with honors and is the winner of the Landolt Prize. In recent years the piano music of the turn of the twentieth century has become a keystone of his artistic work. In addition to his concert career, Roth teaches piano at the Zürcher Oberland Gymnasium. He draws fresh energy and inspiration from the mountains, his second passion after music. Matthias Roth resides with his family in Zurich.
