Nick Costley-White
is one of the most in demand jazz guitarists in the UK, renowned for a deep understanding of the jazz tradition, alongside a virtuosic technique and progressive approach to improvising. Nick has released two albums to date, “Detour Ahead” (Ubuntu Music 2018) and“Nice Work!”, both of which he has toured extensively around the UK.

Costley-White has fantastic facility, can swing the phonebook and goes more deeply into theharmonic inner stitching of tunes than most. He can totally unpick salient motifs to swoop in on andrun with when he extemporises on favoured themes Marlbank

Nick’s latest project “Poncha” showcases his own melodic and highly rhythmic composing, fusing influences from South and Central America with his own jazz background.

For this band Nick has brought together 3 of the most sought after musicians in Europe; Saxophonist Julian Siegel has long been celebrated as “One of the UK’s most creative saxophonists” (Mojo Magazine) and lists Hermeto Pascoal, Mike Gibbs, Kenny Wheeler, Django Bates and NDR Big Band amongst extensive performing credits. James Maddren and Conor Chaplin between them are easily one of the most renowned and exciting rhythm sections in the world, regularly performing with the likes of ENEMY, Gwilym Simcock, Brad Mehldau, Aaron Parks and Seamus Blake.

Nick has performed all around the world in jazz clubs including Ronnie Scott’s, the Duc DesLombards, Blue Note (Milan, Shanghai & Beijing) A-Trane, Unterfhart, and at jazz festivalsincluding Jazz in the Vines (Australia), Birmingham, Manchester and London Jazz Festival. Nickhas performed with some of the most renowned jazz musicians in the UK including StanSulzmann, Gareth Lockrane, Jason Rebello, Ivo Neame, Kit Downes Alex Garnett, Mark Taylor,Steve Fishwick and JeffWilliams and holds the guitar chair with the London Jazz Orchestra.
