Info for Splinter

Best known for being a founding member of Jazz/Funk band Naughty Professor, Noah Young is one of the most sought after Bassists in New Orleans.

Born in the rural state of Vermont in 1991, Young started learning the Bass Guitar at the age of 12. In 2010 at the age of 19, he moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue music more seriously. Between 2010 and 2015 Young studied jazz formally at both Loyola University and University of New Orleans.

In 2015, Noah Young graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies. While at UNO he was fortunate enough to study with many legends of the New Orleans Jazz scene including Brian Seeger, Steve Masakowski, Ed Peterson, and Victor Atkins. As well as his formal academic studies, he has studied on and off with New Orleans’ bass legend Chris Severin for the last 5 years, and considers him one of his biggest influences.

"Ahead of a sophomore album slated for a March release, Noah Young is premiering a music video for his new song “Splinter,” shot by OffBeat’s Noe Cugny. The Naughty Professor bassist and his jazz style shine through in “Splinter,” which features all his funky bass abilities. Young found inspiration for this hit from Avishai Cohen, an Israeli jazz double bassist, composer, singer and arranger. “Splinter” was the first song that Young wrote for his upcoming record..."
