The Cameroonian-born Frenchwoman first began her career as an actress - perhaps that explains her commanding stage presence. Deep voice, upright gait, confident look: As soon as she enters the stage, Sandra Nkaké captivates the audience with her strong yet gentle charisma.

When Sandra Nkaké sings, she tells stories. Supported by Jî Drû, a flutist and faithful companion, the artist draws a colourful portrait gallery in her projects and describes imaginary stages of life. Groovy loops, jazz melodies and African and Brazilian influences musically underpin moments of everyday poetry as well as an urgent appeal for emancipation.

Sandra Nkaké is an author, composer and performer, constantly exploring and reinventing her musical universe. After three albums and a Victoire de la musique in 2012, she has delighted audiences and critics alike on stage at the biggest pop, soul and jazz festivals in France and abroad. These stories co-written with Jî Drû, her longstanding partner, take place in the same setting: on the sand, on the edge of a forest, where the river flows into the sea. The musicians all settled in the big studio, equipped with amplifiers and vintage instruments, and recorded the whole project in live conditions. Sandra wanted this spontaneous and natural bias, offering us a straight and fragile album, full of temperament.

Sandra Nkaké is one of the most moving voices in France: she has spread her personality and her talent throughout the most important festivals and stages in France and abroad. Tangerine Moon Wishes is her third album; it will be released in September via Jazz Village [PIAS] and promises to be one of the events in the music industry not to miss in 2017.
