wurde in Nagoya (Japan) geboren und studierte an der Toho Gakuen School of Music sowie am Lemmensinstituut in Belgien – bei Midori Miura, Alan Weiss, Lilya Zilberstein und Pavel Gililov. Akane Sakai ist Preistragerin von „Young Artist Development“ des japanischen Kulturministeriums und trat mit bekannten Orchestern wie Kremerata Baltica, Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra della Svizzera Italian und Tokyo Symphony Orchestra auf. Sie ist eine leidenschaftliche Kammermusikerin und zählt Martha Argerich, Gidon Kremer, Evgeni Bozhanov und Akiko Suwanai zu ihren musikalischen Partnern. Seit 2018 ist sie die künstlerische Planerin des Martha Argerich Festivals der Symphoniker Hamburg.
