Info for Form & Flow
We would like to invite you on a musical adventure where you can discover new works for guitar trio from the 20th and 21st centuries and get to know a unique style of improvisation called Soundpainting. All of the Soundpainting tracks were created in the studio during recording, and each one is unrepeatable.
The improvisations were completely free, guided only by the Soundpainter (Ádám Darázs), who gave us instructions to control certain aspects of what and how we played. The elements of this music combine our collective musical experiences and influences gathered over more than 20 years of playing and learning. If you happen to recognize motifs from classical, rock, blues, metal, Hungarian, Balkan, or minimal music, it is no coincidence.
The composed pieces, though written in the 21st century, sound almost “classical” compared to the “painted sounds.”
The unpredictability and restlessness of the improvisations stand in strong contrast to the composed and calming atmosphere of the written works.
Freedom and control are always in a state of perpetual balance, both in improvisation and in composition. While improvising, we try to maintain some control over the freedom of rhythm, key, tempo, and mood; in composition, our greatest challenge is to breathe life and emotion into the written notes as we uncover the intentions of the composers.
"We have finally found the strings, which are capable of producing a sweet and singing sound, and the most brutal and furious forte parts as well. These strings are an inspiring combination of a great dynamic range, feeling and colours."

For now Tritonus Guitar Trio has showed up in all areas of Hungary and abroad, and has competed succesfully on national and international competitions. They have won the first prize at the chamber music competitions of Szeged, Győr and Bratislava.
They have also got the public award at the International Chamber Music Competition in Braga, Portugal.
In 2018, the trio won the second place at Guitar Foundation of America’s International Ensemble Competition. In 2019, they won the following edition of IEC, GFA, which was held in Miami.
The first CD of the trio released in the end of 2018, it is called "DEBÜT".
The goal of Tritonus Guitar Trio is to play pieces, which can not be heard or are rarely played on three guitars. Their further and most important purpose is to widen the guitar repertoire and to reach more and more people with classical guitar music.
