In the ten years since its creation, the Opus 333 quartet has become a veritable ambassador for traditional french brass. In France and throughout the world, this surprising chamber music quartet has met with success thanks to their great musical complicity and their daring transcriptions of the greatest works from the classical and contemporary repertoire. For their 10th anniversary, Opus 333 is making a stopover in Spain! The melancholy of the Oriental by Granados compliments the virtuosic and brassy power of the Danses Espagnoles from La Vida Breve by De Falla. The luminous Granada enlightens the hectic Asturias by Albeniz... A second opus and a confirmation of the talent of this unique quartet!

Opus 333

Vianney DESPLANTES
He became a student of Gérard Portellano at the Conservatoire de Bayonne. Determined to turn his passion into a career, in 2007, Vianney was enrolled in Philippe Fritsch’s class at the CNSMDP (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), where he notably studied harmony, ethnomusicology, improvisation, theatre etc. With the OPUS 333 quartet, Vianney Desplantes takes advantage of human friendship and musical depth to explore the full potential of the saxhorn and appreciate the infinite pleasures of chamber music. An improviser who is passionate about contemporary creation and experimentation with sound, he is a member of Collectif WARNING, ONCEIM (an orchestra of musical experimentation), and has been involved in numerous collaborations with composers, actors and dancers. Remaining true to his Basque heritage, Vianney also plays the alboka and plays in the groups Sasi Ardiak and Trikili-Trakala.

Jean DAUFRESNE
Jean is a multi-faceted artist. A trained classical musician, he performs in the worlds of both classical and contemporary music. Eager for new experiences, he also dedicates his time to free improvisation and instrumental theatre. For two years, he studied with Bernard Lienard at the Conservatoire de Aulnay-sous-Bois before returning to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) in 2008, where he studied under Philippe Fritsch and Jean-Luc Petitprez. In 2012, he won the Paris Prize for saxhorn/euphonium (with first-class honours and special citation from the jury), as well as the Paris Prize for chamber music in 2014 with the Opus 333 quartet (with first-class honours and special mention from the jury). He became a member of the Musique de l'Air (French Air Force Band) on alto saxhorn in 2010. In 2015, he won first prize at the International Competition of Tours. He also plays solo euphonium in the Orchestre de Cuivres de Paris (Paris Brass Band).

Patrick WIBART
Patrick started learning the tuba at the age of 6 in Picardy, at the Conservatoire de Persan. He was very quickly spotted for his vocal abilities, and joined the Maîtrise de Radio France (the Radio France choir school) at the age of 10 under Toni Ramon. After five years of training, he decided to concentrate on studying the saxhorn. At the age of 15, he joined the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris and was then accepted into the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris three years later, where he gained a Masters with first-class honours and special citation from the jury in 2013, with special honours for his choice of programme and instrumental versatility. Although he is a regular guest in orchestras such as La Chambre Philharmonique, La Grande Écurie, Les Siècles and the Orchestre National de France, chamber music remains his area of expertise. He is notably a member of the OPUS 333 quartet, with whom he graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris in 2014 with a Masters in Chamber Music with first-class honours and special citation from the jury.

Corentin MORVAN
Corentin started playing the euphonium in Nantes with M. Berger and gained his Degree in Music Studies with distinction in 2008. He then furthered his skills with D. Maillot and studied under P. Fritsch and J-L. Petiprez at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris at the age of 17. He completed his studies in 2014 and gained a Masters on the euphonium/saxhorn with distinction. Alongside his studies, he has been a distinguished soloist at numerous competitions and won first prize at the National Music Competition of Levallois-Perret in 2010, as well as first prize at the National Tuba Competition of Tours in 2011. In 2012, he won second prize at the Jeju International Competition in South Korea, one of the most prestigious competitions for the euphonium. Corentin regularly performs as a soloist with brass bands and concert bands and at recitals with piano accompaniment, playing the major works in the repertoire. He has also been invited to play with several major French symphony orchestras (Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, La Chambre Philharmonique, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire...) on both the saxhorn and euphonium as well as the ophicleide. A founding member of the OPUS 333 quartet, he considers chamber music to be his favourite means of expression and it is thus his predominant musical preoccupation.
