Georg Philipp Telemann: Eine Liebesaffäre fürs Leben: Die Blockflöte war eines der Instrumente, die Georg Philipp Telemann selbst spielte. Meiner Meinung nach ist er der Barockkomponist, der am idiomatischsten für dieses Instrument komponierte. Diese Freude wird noch dadurch verstärkt, dass mich sein Werk immer wieder in meine Jugend zurückversetzt. Neben der Blockflöte spielte ich früher auch Oboe, und mein jüngerer Bruder spielte sowohl Blockflöte als auch Fagott. Ich erinnere mich gut an die vielen Stunden des fröhlichen Musizierens und der Vorbereitung auf Aufführungen in der Musikschule. Es ist diese unkomplizierte Freude am gemeinsamen Musizieren, die Telemanns Werke auszeichnet und die ich und meine Freunde in dieser Aufnahme einzufangen versucht haben. Die Aufnahmen fanden in meiner geliebten Kruiskerk in Burgum statt, wo ich seit meinem zehnten Lebensjahr spiele – eine „sentimentale Reise“, könnte man sagen. In dem Bemühen, sozusagen wieder Kind zu werden und die Unbefangenheit der Jugend wiederzuerleben, hoffe ich, dem Hörer erneut zu vermitteln, wie wunderbar diese alte Musik ist. Diese Aufnahme umfasst Kammermusik aller Art, von intimeren Triosonaten mit verschiedenen Bläsern bis hin zu zwei grandios konzipierten Konzerten für sieben Instrumente.

Vier der sechs Triosonaten für Blockflöte und Oboe stehen in Moll, vermutlich kein Zufall: Diese Tonarten passen besonders gut zum melancholischen Klang der Oboe mit ihren weit ausholenden, ergreifenden Linien. Zu Telemanns Zeiten wurde die Oboe oft auf diese Weise typisiert, man denke nur an die berühmten Beispiele aus Bachs Werken, wie die Sinfonien aus dem Osteroratorium BWV 249 und die Kantaten BWV 12 und 21.

Die Gattung der Triosonate galt bereits zu Telemanns Lebzeiten als eine seiner Spezialitäten. Um zu verstehen, warum, genügt ein Blick auf den ersten Satz der Triosonate c-Moll (TWV 42:c7). Nachdem die Oboe mit einem ernsten Thema begonnen hat, tritt die Blockflöte sofort hinzu, scheinbar unabhängig, wie jemand mit einer ganz anderen Einstellung, der zufällig vorbeikommt. Erst sechs Takte später beginnen Blockflöte und Oboe ein Gespräch, als wären sie zwei Persönlichkeiten. Telemann – wer sonst könnte sich so etwas ausdenken?

Die häufige Rückkehr zum Ton A im ersten Satz der Triosonate a-Moll (TWV 42:a6) verstärkt den Ausdruck der Traurigkeit, der dann durch eine fallende chromatische Linie verstärkt wird. Im Eröffnungssatz der Triosonate e-Moll (TWV 42:e6) deutet der erste Takt nach dem Eröffnungsakkord in der Haupttonart unmittelbar auf G-Dur hin. Es ist diese Unvorhersehbarkeit, die Telemann zu einem so brillanten Komponisten macht; ein Meister der künstlerischen Irreführung, wie Haydn nach ihm. ...

Ensemble Cordevento
Founded in 2006, is an ensemble with a flexible line-up. The group works as a trio with recorder, baroque guitar and harpsichord as well as a small baroque orchestra with strings and winds. Cordevento plays on copies of historical instruments, the guitar for instance is a copy of a Stradivarius. In 2007 the ensemble was asked to perform the opening concert at the prestigious Tage der Alte Musik in Berlin. In addition Cordevento is a regular guest on the early music festivals in Utrecht, Modena, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Sofia. The past season the ensemble toured extensively through The Netherlands and Belgium within the early music network. The ensemble is under contract with Brilliant Classics and will release its debut CD in September; the recorder concertos by Vivaldi. The individual members have already released many CD's with the works of Giuliani, Handel, Telemann and Van Eyck.

Erik Bosgraaf
is generally considered to be one of the world’s most virtuosic recorder players, and certainly the most adventurous. Moreover, he is an inspiring conductor. To Erik, his instrument is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, with endless possibilities. He improvises, plays jazz, utilizes electronics and likes working with people in other areas of artistic endeavour such as cinematography. His repertoire extends from medieval music to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to tomorrow’s music. For Erik there is no fundamental difference between historical and contemporary repertoire. He is of the opinion that ‘early music is always new’. As a soloist he is regularly invited to lead the orchestra himself. If not playing the recorder, he leads from the harpsichord or – in classical and later repertoire for chamber orchestra – conducts from the front.
