Info for Ledger EP

The Ledger EP will feature such songs as the ballad "Ruins," which Ledger wrote with Korey Cooper, the anthemic "I'm Not Dead Yet," and the lyrically empowering "Bold," showcasing Ledger's unique vocals. "I'm going to sing songs to hopefully inspire people to not give up and inspire people to keep going when they want to give up or when they feel afraid," she tells the website.

She continues, "There are so many voices in the world right now screaming at people. The biggest influence is reality TV shows. People who are actually very dysfunctional with addictions and broken relationships seem to be the loudest voices out there, so I feel incredibly passionate and excited to be someone in the world that's just a source of light and hope."

The British-born Ledger says she owes much to the Coopers, who have been mentoring her and helped her develop her own sound since she joined the band a decade ago, just as she turned 18.

"I'm not just mini-Skillet. I'm edgy and rocky, but I'm also soft and got a little bit of pop in me too," Ledger explains. "They've been helping me find out not only who I am musically, but also who I am as a person and what do I want to say."

"The Ledger EP is a great solo debut from Jen Ledger and really delivers. She’s found a sound that really works for her and is sure to stand out in a music scene where that’s becoming harder and harder to accomplish. If you’re looking for something new to listen to that is sure to get and keep your attention listen after listen, pick up the Ledger EP when it drops this Friday." (Indievisionmusic.com)

Jen Ledger
(born Jennifer Carole Ledger, December 8, 1989, in Coventry, England) is the English drummer and backing vocalist for the Grammy Award nominated Christian rock/hard rock band, Skillet. At the age of eighteen she became Skillet’s drummer, when their former drummer Lori Peters retired.

Ledger came to the United States at age 16, to major in drums at Living Light School of Worship in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

She toured as Skillet’s drummer on the “Comatose Tour,” where she sang a vocal solo in “Yours to Hold.” Ledger sang on the tracks “Hero,” and “Awake and Alive,” on the Skillet album, Awake. She also sang back up on “Monster Unleash the Beast)”.

Before Skillet, Jen was in a worship band from Kenosha, WI called The Spark. The band already had a drummer so Ledger became the band’s bass player instead. Jen got into Skillet through her good friend Rosalie (who is also Korey Cooper’s sister) According to Ledger’s Facebook page when Rosalie told her Korey was asking about her she says, “My initial answer was “no”. She believed it wasn’t her calling, but after much prayer Jen was sure that God just wanted her to “try her best and not worry about the outcome.”

In December of 2007 she tried out for Skillet to replace retiring drummer Lori Peters. She beat out a number of other drummers for the spot in Skillet and was officially with the band by New Year’s of 2008.

Her first tour with Skillet was Winter Jam 2008, where the band toured alongside MercyMe, BarlowGirl, NewSong and Mandisa until March 16, 2008. She also toured as Skillet’s drummer on the “Comatose Tour”, where she sang a vocal solo in “Yours to Hold”. ‘Comatose was certified as Gold on November 18, 2009.

Jen was a finalist in the UK young drummer of the year competition in 2006 whilst playing with a local band before moving to the United States and joining Skillet.

Ledger was featured on the 2008 live CD/DVD, Comatose Comes Alive on October 21, 2008. On the album, her vocal solo from the “Comatose Tour” is featured. She has recorded her first full-length album with Skillet, Awake, which was released on August 25, 2009.

Jen is the youngest of four children in her family. She has one sister; Marie, and fraternal twin brothers Martin and David. She attended Blue Coat Church of England School in Coventry, UK, from 2001 to 2006, before moving to America. (Source: virtuousgirls)
