Getreu dem Motto "While Most Musicians Are Playing In Bars, Johnny Cash Is Playing Behind Them" wurde am 24.02.1969 im "San Quentin" Gefängnis bei San Francisco eins der besten Konzerte aufgenommen, das jemals in einem Gefängnis stattgefunden hat. Vor einem Publikum von 2.000 Häftlingen und deren Wärtern lieferte Johnny Cash eine Show ab, die das überaus erfolgreiche Konzert im "Folsom Prison" vom Vorjahr noch bei weitem übertraf. Mit der Hilfe seiner Freunde wie Carl Perkins, der Carter Family & den Statler Brothers machte Mr. Cash diesen Abend für alle Insassen zu einem unvergesslichen Ereignis.

Nun erscheint mit "Johnny Cash at San Quentin - The Legacy Edition" zum ersten Mal das komplette ungekürzte Konzert in einem einzigartigen Package: 2 CDs randvoll mit den größten Hits des Man in Black; 38 Live-Tracks, 13 davon bisher unveröffentlicht; 1 DVD mit der einstündigen, ebenfalls unveröffentlichten TV-Dokumentation des Konzerts von '69; 32-seitiges Booklet mit raren Fotos der kompletten Show.
