Die Jazzsängerin und Komponistin Sanna Ruohoniemi gehört zu den interessantesten Musikschaffenden der jungen, aufstrebenden Generation in Finnland. Ihr Debütalbum "Tales of a Stranger" (Eclipse Music 2016) wurde von Kritikern aus ganz Skandinavien gehört und gefeiert. Im Herbst 2018 veröffentlicht Sanna mit ihrer Band nun ihr zweiten Album "Start from Nothing". Ein kompletter Neuanfang soll das Werk jedoch nicht sein, vielmehr eine Fortsetzung ihres mutigen und innovativen Weges in der Welt des modernen Vocal-Jazz. Eine Hommage an das Anfangen und das Wagen, wie groß Ängste und Zweifel im Vorfeld auch sein mögen. Ihre Songs bieten eine reiche und nuancierte Kombination dessen, was Jazzmusik im hier und jetzt sein kann. Sanna Ruohoniemi stürzt sich mit all ihrem Talent in die Musik, und gibt ihrem facettenreichen Gesang bemerkenswert feinen Raum zur Improvisation.

Zusammen mit ihrer Band kreiert sie Musik, die ihre Wurzeln in der Tradition des Jazz hat, mit einer Mischung aus nordischem Folk, frei improvisierter Musik und allem was dazwischen liegt. Mithilfe ihres musikalischen Dialogs, ihrer kompakten Gruppenenergie, Verspieltheit und eingängige Kompositionen ziehen sie die Aufmerksamkeit des Zuhörers sofort auf sich. Die Musiker vermögen es die verzaubernde Kombination aus zartem Stimmklang mit einem Hauch langer nordischer Winterhärte in Musik zu übersetzen.

Successful album release tour began from Helsinki, Finland on 21st of September followed by international tour. First album release concert in Sweden took place on the opening day of Stockholm Jazz Festival on 12th of October. November 15th Sanna performed on Sydney International Women Jazz Festival being the only representative from Europe.
