Info for Forêts

Tatanka is the exploration of great spaces in the greatest intimacy. Trio from Lyon composed of Emmanuelle Legros (trumpet), Corentin Quemener (drums) and Guillaume Lavergne (piano/keyboard), the group chooses to play on the variations of the melodies. Using the trio formula to vary between minimalism and sound profusion, Tatanka takes us into their stories in the form of sound escapes. It will be a question of new stories, since the group will present its new album!

A superb album of 12 compositions by an exceptional trio. With Emmanuelle Legros, trumpet, flugelhorn, toy piano, voice, Guillaume Lavergne, Fender Rhodes, piano, synthesizer, voice, who nevertheless composed Nana Bozo, and Corentin Quemener, on drums, did the same with Force. And I can tell you that this trio offers a series of tracks in which they have put an explosive force, as if to better make us turn the covidian page of the last two years, as if they were finally releasing all the musical creativity held back, contained, repressed during these 24 long months. It's not surprising, then, that we perceive a certain energy, even vitality, in the wild flights of music emanating from this ensemble whose name is TATTANKA, which means bison in the Sioux language, and which plays "Sioux jazz", according to their own criteria. What a magnificent ode to freedom this music is after a long period of confinement! I would be tempted to say that, yes, these musicians have let go of the horses and that we can finally breathe. Emmanuelle Legros is sublime, leading her little world with ardour and vivacity, while Guillaume faithfully follows her in her hypnotising flights of fancy and Corentin accompanies the duo on drums. It is to this exploration of the great spaces in the greatest intimacy that the group invites us, playing on the variations of the melodies and varying between minimalism and sound profusion.
