Francesco Bordignon
(born in 1999) is a double bass player and composer from Vicenza who, despite his young age, already boasts several awards and recognitions as well as collaborations with important musicians such as Robert Bonisolo, Alex Sipiagin, Pietro Tonolo, Phelan Burgoyne, Danilo Memoli, Sandro Gibellini and many others.
This is his new line-up, an energetic quartet characterised by the meeting of different cultures that communicate on stage through the same language, namely that of music.
Prominent in the group is the name of Sasha Mashin, a Russian drummer who boasts important collaborations such as those with Benny Golson, Clark Terry, J. Griffin and Alex Sipiagin, to name but a few. Alongside Bordignon will be Manuel Caliumi on alto saxophone. The latter is undoubtedly one of the most interesting young saxophonists on the Italian scene, as confirmed by the numerous prizes he has won and the collaborations he boasts. Caliumi is an imaginative, refined and experienced saxophonist, perfect for Bordignon's line-up.
Completing the quartet is Francesco Pollon, a pianist currently living and studying in New York. Pollon is a musician who has been distinguishing himself as one of the most interesting young Italian musicians for several years now, and like Caliumi, he too has collected several prizes and awards over the years.
The group bases its style on the search for a personal sound. The meeting of Italy, New York and Russia creates a balance of energy and refinement that strongly characterises this line-up and captures the listener's attention.
The repertoire includes original pieces by each member of the group and also leaves room for some standards from the jazz tradition.
