In a few years, through his international concert appearances and his award-winning Sony Classical recordings, the « young cellist in ascension » (Diapason) Christian-Pierre La Marca is described as « a young man who already ranks among the masters of the cello » (La Croix).

Christian-Pierre began playing the cello in Aix-en-Provence before studying in Paris with Jean-Marie Gamard and Philippe Muller. He continued his education with Frans Helmerson in Cologne, Steven Isserlis in London and alongside attended masterclasses by Mstislav Rostropovich, Heinrich Schiff, Anner Bylsma or Gary Hoffman. Christian-Pierre was also encouraged by a circle of great artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Philippe Jaroussky, Thomas Quasthoff, Leif Ove Ansdsnes, Maria Joao Pires, Artemis Quartet or Seiji Ozawa.

Christian-Pierre has performed across the world : Paris (Louvre, Orsay, Salle Pleyel, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Châtelet, Seine Musicale), Londres (Southbank Center), Bruxelles (Bozar, Flagey), Vienna (Musikverein, Konzerthaus), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Berlin (Philharmonie), Hamburg (Elbphilharmonie, Laeizshalle), Frankfurt (Alte Oper), Schwarzenberg (Kaufmann Hall), Genève (Victoria Hall), Monaco (Opéra Garnier), Venice (La Fenice), Saint-Petersburg (Mariinsky Concert Hall), Moscow (Conservatory), New York (92nd), Delhi (Imperial), Osaka (Izumi Hall), Tokyo (Oiji Hall), Melbourne (Arts Center) and Sydney (Angel Place).

He has appeared as a soloist with many leading orchestras : Philharmonia Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Les Siècles, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Orchestre de Mulhouse, Orchestre National de Bordeaux-Aquitaine, Wiener Concert-Verein, Sinfonia Varsovia, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Slovak National Radio Orchestra, Malaga Philharmonic, Kunming Symphony Orchestra, barock ensembles Les Ambassadeurs under the baton of François-Xavier Roth, Emmanuel Krivine, Augustin Dumay, Pascal Rophé, Gérard Korsten, Christopher Warren-Green, Antoni Ros-Marba, Clemens Schuldt or Alexis Kossenko.

Highly sought after in chamber music, Christian-Pierre plays with Nicholas Angelich, Kit Armstrong, Renaud Capuçon, Didier Lockwood, Augustin Dumay, Lawrence Power, Michel Portal, Thierry Escaich, Lise de la Salle, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Adam Laloum, Cédric Tiberghien, Eric Le Sage, David Kadouch, Jean Rondeau, Modigliani, Carducci, Hermès Quartets and singers Philippe Jaroussky, Bernarda Fink, Julie Fuchs, Karine Deshayes or Patricia Petibon (with who he recorded on DG « La Belle Excentrique »).

He appears in major festivals (Verbier, Ravinia, Santander, Bad Kissingen, Meklenburg Vorpommern, Trondheim, Oxford, Printemps des Arts in Monaco, Pablo Casals, Aix-en-Provence, La Roque d’Anthéron, La Grange de Meslay, Auvers-sur-Oise, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Saintes, Montpellier, Menton...). Christian-Pierre is a founding member of the renowned Trio Dali and plays regularly in recital with pianist Lise de la Salle. He actively promotes contemporary music collbarotating with composers including Peteris Vasks, Gyorgy Kurtag, Thierry Escaich, Philippe Hersant, Olivier Greif, Jean-Louis Florentz or Nicolas Bacri.

An exclusive artist Sony Classical, Christian-Pierre has already released three albums unanimously praised by international press (Diapason d’Or, Choc Classica, Gramophone Editor’s Choice, BBC, Pizzicato Supersonic…) : the complete Bach Cello Suites (« there is [...] a sovereign sense of balance, a kind of natural classicism which makes pointless any quarrel of style. And all this at 29, in the cellists’s Bible ! » Le Figaro), « L'Heure Exquise » and « Cantus » with Les Ambassadeurs under Alexis Kossenko with Thierry Escaich, Philippe Jaroussky, Patricia Petibon. His three recordings (Ravel/Schubert/Mendelssohn) with the Trio Dali for Outhere/Harmonia Mundi have all been acclaimed by critics. His new album « Paris-Moscou » in recital with Lise de la Salle will be out in march 2018.

Christian-Pierre is founder and artistic director with his brother Adrien of the summer festival « Les Musicales de Pommiers » in France. «One of the 12 festivals which counts in France in 2017» by Télérama.

Official artist Jaguar Strings and ambassador GEWA Music worldwide, he is cello teacher at the « Musical Academy Philippe Jaroussky » at the Seine Musicale in Paris.

He plays a unique golden period Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume cello (1856). The Vocation Foundation allows him to play a rare Jacob Eury cello bow (1825).
