Karl Olandersson
was born in 1978 in Hedemora, Dalarna, Sweden. Moved to Stockholm in 1997 and studied four years at the Royal College Of Music. Karl has been working as a freelance musician since then and he is now one of the top trumpet players in Sweden.
His first album, ”Introducing”, was released in 2003. The second is called ”I Like The Way You Shake That Thing”, but this album was only released in Japan, in 2005. Karl’s third album, ”Plays Standards”, was released in August 2010.
He is now releasing his sixth album in his own name, "Walk And Talk" on the Stockholm Jazz Records label. Participants on the disc are Karl's quartet: Magnus Hjorth (piano), Martin Sjöstedt (bass) and Daniel Fredriksson (drums). This time the song material consists entirely of Karl's self-composed music.
Karl plays with his own quartet Karl Olandersson Kvartett (KOK), Trinity, Stockholm Swing All Stars, Walk Tall (Martin Sjöstedt), Apocalyptic Brass Collective, Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Klas Lindquist Nonet, Ronnie Gardiner Quartet, Ekdahl/Bagge Big Band, Beat Funktion and Ann-Sofi Söderqvist Jazz Orchestra.
He also often appears in commercial contexts such as Let's Dance, Idrottsgalan and Allsång på Skansen and has collaborated with many Swedish artists for several years in the Christmas Gala. He was in Tommy Körberg's show "Sjung tills du stupar" at Intiman and Chinateatern and "Elvis, Cash, The Killer And Me" with Brolle at Göta Lejon. In autumn 2018, Karl participated in Peter Jöback's show "Med hjärtat som insats" at Cirkus in Stockholm.
Karl also often plays trumpet in the studio on various artists' discs, for example, he has been involved in songs with famous international artists such as Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Anastacia as well as many Swedish artists.
From 2008 to 2011, Karl was head teacher of trumpet at the jazz programme at the Royal College of Music, but decided to quit to focus solely on playing.
