Info zu Lou Pomanti & Friends
Award-winning composer, arranger, pianist, producer, and bandleader Lou Pomanti has worked in countless areas of the music business and has received accolades in each.
After working on numerous projects for other artists, Pomanti has used some of the time over the pandemic to work on a project that finds him hosting a musical party featuring some of his best mates on a record appropriately titled "Lou Pomanti and Friends".
"Pomanti’s “ten piece touring funk juggernaut, Oakland Stroke” is represented here with a bluesy and thrilling version of Me and Mrs. Jones, graced by the incredible pipes of George St. Kitts. Of special, luminous beauty is the haunting Windmills of Your Mind perfectly rendered by the incomparable Garber – who doesn’t just sing the lyrics, but imbues them with deep emotional content and flawless interpretation. Of special note is Pomanti’s composition, What Remains – a loving tribute to his adored wife of more than 20 years – made all the more moving by featuring the still-besotted Pomanti on vocals." (TheWholeNote)
Composer, producer, musician, Gemini Award winner and 5-time nominee, Lou Pomanti is highly respected nationwide as one of the country’s finest musical talents. With over 25 years of credits in scoring, songwriting and performing his expertise has awarded him hundreds of musical projects for film, television, and album work. In 1980, Lou received a call from David Clayton-Thomas asking him to join Blood, Sweat and Tears on their world tour. This kickstarted him into a whirlwind period over the next 2 decades of playing with a who’s who of the North American music scene, from Anne Murray to Kim Mitchell, from Gordon Lightfoot to Platinum Blonde, from Triumph to Leonard Cohen, from Jeff Healey to Michael Bublé. Lou has just finished producing and arranging Clayton-Thomas’ new CD for Universal Records, “Soul Ballads”.

Lou studied music at Humber College in Toronto in the Jazz Program. He was the recipient of The Duke Ellington Scholarship Award for Arranging.
In 1980 Lou received a call from David Clayton-Thomas to join the seminal jazz rock group Blood, Sweat and Tears and toured the world. It began a decades-long association including the role as producer on DCT’s “Soul Ballads” album for Universal Records.
1983 saw the beginning of Lou’s session career as the first call pianist/synthesist in Toronto. His playing and arranging has enhanced the recordings of Michael Bublé, Gordon Lightfoot and Anne Murray; as well as rockers Kim Mitchell and Triumph. His record credits are a “Who’s Who” of the Canadian recording industry.

Lou composed the music for the 2011 Pan Am Games Handover Ceremony in Guadalajara, an 8-minute suite for multimedia. Lou also leads his 10-piece horn band Oakland Stroke in Toronto.
The last few years have seen Lou’s return to his first love, making records. He has contributed to and/or produced recent albums by Marc Jordan, The Tenors, Matt Dusk, David Clayton-Thomas, June Garber, John Finley, Barbra Lica and many more.
