Info zu Borders
Still just 21, budding West Coast singer-songwriter Stav has actually been performing in front of an audience for nearly a decade already. His brand of stark, earnest storytelling may draw comparisons to the likes of Nick Drake or Iron & Wine, but cultivating influences as far ranging as Queen and Norah Jones imbues his music with an uncommon eclecticism.
These qualities extend to his strikingly visceral lyrical abilities, where complex emotions translate to pointedly affecting and thought provoking messaging in songs like "Borders" and "Brother," both featured on his upcoming debut EP, also titled Borders.
"I tend to focus on what brings people together, as opposed to what tears people apart. And I think that starts with allowing myself to be vulnerable in my songs."
And yet all that intensity is delivered in Stav's trademark mellifluent vocal style—which has been known to not infrequently induce an emotional chill in the listener.
A genuine exciting young talent, whose songs are both intimate and spacious, personal and universal – who may remind you of Jackson Browne one minute, Elton John the next. A true musical storyteller, with much to tell. – Blackbook
His musicianship and visceral lyrics transcend beyond his years, translating complex emotions into thought provoking storytelling, that strikes deep emotional chord. – Vents magazine
Stav has a lovely voice, and a wonderful guitar playing style that work well together providing a beautiful piece of folk music. – York Calling
There’s a certain vulnerability to McAllister that’s emphasized in his songwriting, a man not afraid to bare it all when it comes to his art – V13

"I tend to focus on what brings people together, as opposed to what tears people apart. And I think that starts with allowing myself to be vulnerable in my songs."
Burgeoning West Coast song-smith Stav is explaining the personal and creative philosophy that has driven the journey towards his debut EP Borders. He's just 21, but has actually been performing in front of an audience for nearly a decade.
Compelled since then by encouraging audiences plus musical influences from Abba to Queen, Norah Jones to Paolo Nutini - his lyrics and melodies happen to be uncommonly mature, even particularly impressive, considering his age. His musical journey continues this fall at Boston's Berklee College of Music.
Like all the best songwriters, he is in fact a storyteller. And like the best storytellers, it all comes from a place of earnestness and authenticity. Much as the poignant messaging in songs like "Brother"; and "Borders"; come comfortably to the fore, his strikingly affective lyrics conveyed in a distinctly mellifluent fashion.
