Info zu Feathers And Stone (Deluxe)

Jeremy Loops

Jeremy Loops
Born as Jeremy Thomas Hewitt on March 4, 1984, the world came to know him as the inimitable Jeremy Loops. This South African prodigy etched his name into the annals of music history as a supremely talented singer, songwriter, and record producer. Through his journey, he showcased a versatility that resonated with audiences globally.

Jeremy Loops made a significant splash in the music world with his self-titled EP in 2011. But it was his debut album, "Trading Change," released in March 2014 in South Africa, that solidified his status as a force to reckon with. The album made waves internationally, releasing in various continents over the next couple of years. His international stints included supporting the well-acclaimed band Twenty One Pilots on their European "Blurryface Tour" in 2015, which unfortunately met an abrupt end due to the November 2015 Paris attacks.

Born in the serene surf town of Kommetjie, near Cape Town, Jeremy Loops was the eldest among three siblings, born to a Swiss mother and a South African father. His academic journey took him to the University of Cape Town, where he majored in Finance and Property Development. However, his heart was set on a different path.

Despite being a late bloomer in the music scene, Loops's passion became apparent when he started playing the guitar during his last years at college. His travels on a superyacht became instrumental in honing his craft, using a loop pedal to compensate for the absence of fellow musicians at sea. On his return, not only did he dive headfirst into his music career, but he also showcased his environmental consciousness by co-founding the tree-planting organization, Greenpop.

By 2011, Loops had released his debut EP, setting the stage for what was to come. His intense touring during 2011-2013 across South Africa, combined with an exceptional live performance ability, earned him the coveted title of Best Live Act at the 2014 MK Awards. The years 2014-2018 saw Loops scaling newer heights, especially with his hit single "Down South" and its parent album "Trading Change," which both enjoyed significant success. 2018 brought with it another album, "Critical as Water," highlighting the pressing water crisis in Cape Town.

As we transitioned into a new decade, Jeremy Loops showed no signs of slowing down. In April 2022, he unveiled "Better Together" along with its music video, a precursor to his anticipated third studio album, "Heard You Got Love." Released in July the same year, the album is yet another testament to Loop's unmatched musical prowess.

In memorializing Jeremy Loops, we pay tribute not only to a remarkable musician but also to a visionary who seamlessly blended his art with pressing global issues. Through his melodies and lyrics, he painted vivid landscapes of our world, urging us to listen, reflect, and act.
