Info zu Drømmesky

Leirblaa plays Jakob Nordli’s music, which combines quirky songs with lyrics in the Trondheim dialect, improvisation, alluring acoustic instruments, and pop-influenced electronic elements. Since their formation in 2018, Leirblaa has played numerous concerts, gone on several tours, and recorded two albums.

Their second album, Drømmesky, will be released in September 2025. The album explores the tension between alienation and hope, fantasy and reality, and looks toward the "dream cloud" — another place for small and big dreams, misty veils and patchy showers, a flowing disorder and rich imagination.

Jakob Nordli, vocals, synthesiser, piano
Jenny Frøysa, baritone saxophone, electronics
Amund Storløkken Åse, vibraphone, mellotron
August Glännestrand, drums

Leirblaa
is the collaboration between Jakob Nordli (vocals, keyboard, compositions and lyrics), Jenny Frøysa (baritone saxophone), Amund Storløkken Åse (vibraphone, mellotron) and August Glännestrand (drums). The four musicians met at the Jazz Department of NTNU in Trondheim, Norway in 2018 and have played together since.

Leirblaa plays Nordlis music and texts that can be described as improvised music with alternative pop aestetics. Leirblaa’s unique sounds combines lyrics in Trondheim dialect, a rare mix of acoustic instruments and electronic elements such as synths, samples and drum machines.

Since the beginning Leirblaa has recorded two albums: “Sirkel” from 2022 and “Drømmesky” which will be released the 29th of August this year. Leirblaa will do a “Drømmesky” release tour the fall of 2025 with concerts in Oslo, Trondheim, Inderøy and Copenhagen.

Since 2021 Nordli and Leirblaa has organized and done three “local tours” in the region of Trøndelag in Norway. This is a concept that they have developed while looking for more short-travelled alternatives when it comes to touring. The goals for these projects have been to investigate what happens when they bring alternative music to rooms an spaces that are not frequently hosting concerts with improvised music. Another goal is to travel in a lower pace which can be good for both musicians and for the surroundings. In 2026 Leirblaa will do their fourth version of this project in the western region of Norway.

Jakob Nordli
is a queer singer, musician, improviser, songwriter and composer based in Oslo. He did his bachelor in music performance at the Jazz department of NTNU in Trondheim and did his Master’s degree in performance at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

Since January 2025 I have been the leader of Young Voices - a youth vocal ensemble for singers between 16-21 years, organized by the Jazz Center of Trøndelag (Midtnorsk jazzsenter) in Trondheim. Young Voices is an ensemble for for singers with interest in ensemble singing, improvising and interplay. Young Voices & Leirblaa did a collaboration this year with concerts in Jazzfest in Trondheim and Molde Jazz Festival, playing the music from Leirblaas newest project “Drømmesky”.

Since 2015 I’ve ocasionally worked as singing teacher and band instructor for kids, teen agers and adults. I think teaching is very meaningful and fun, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you want lessons in singing, songwriting, composition, ear training or music theory within the sphere of jazz, pop and improvised music.
