Händels Messias in einer neuen, intimen Einspielung: Der renommierte RIAS Kammerchor Berlin unter der Leitung von Justin Doyle präsentiert gemeinsam mit der Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin Händels Messias. Ein rein britisches Quartett herausragender Stimmen – Julia Doyle (Sopran), Tim Mead (Countertenor), Thomas Hobbs (Tenor) und Roderick Williams (Bass) – sorgt für den idiomatischen Klang der Solisten.

Der "Messiah" ist nicht nur Händels berühmtestes Werk, sondern auch einer der Eckpfeiler der britischen Chorkultur. Im Laufe der Jahre entwickelte sich eine Tradition von Massenaufführungen voller Prunk und Umstände, wobei das berühmte »Hallelujah« als prunkvoller Höhepunkt fungierte. Diese neue Aufnahme mit historischen Instrumenten soll das Stück jedoch auf den Umfang und die Intimität der frühesten Aufführungen zurückbringen und unterstreicht seinen sakralen Charakter.
