Info zu Romeo

Following a couple of years recording occasional backing tracks, in August 2011 Alejandro Gómez traveled to Madrid, Spain to get together with long time artistic production partner Barry Sage, to finish the production of the forth Alamedas record, to be called “Romeo”.

As well as Alejandro, the other permanent members of the band at that time were long time co-member Ricardo Contesse, along with Pierre De L´Herbe, who recorded additional remaining parts for the album from the distance.

Being Alamedas´”Tattoo You” album, the backing tracks included numerous drummers and bassists, as well as Alejandro´s played and programmed songs. Finished completely in Barry´s home studio in Madrid, the songs also feature Barry on keyboards, as well as the collaboration of producer, vocalist and musician Tito Dávila (Enanitos Verdes y Andres Calamaro) as featured artist (piano and vocal duet) on the song “Sin Que Te Lo Pida”.

The result was Romeo - a dynamic nine track album, a personal musical voyage of the main character during an intense three months in Madrid to the characteristic Alamedas/Solar Chilean soundtrack, edited and produced by Alejandro Gomez and Barry Sage for Top Manta Music Ltd!

Described by some as being the “lost” Alamedas album, or the unknown first Alejandro Gomez solo album. This year Mapa Records are pleased to announce the re-release of the album in it´s original 24bit high quality resolution format as well as standard digital formats.

“It is a perfect continuation of the work done by the band; and, without a doubt, Alejandro Gomez is confirmed as one of the most brilliant composers of Chilean indie rock”. (Rockaxis)

„There’s a recognizable sound from years ago of this band that formed in 2005, but with new adjusted drums, sharp guitars and more emphasis on the melody“. (EMOL)

Alamedas
Nearly a year after the band Solar split up, the former guitar players of the band Alejandro Gómez and Ricardo Contesse started up a new one, Alamedas. A bit later they recorded their self-titled first album. The single “Chileno” had big radio playlist rotation and defined their inclination for pop music. Alamedas’ second album, Precipicio (Precepice) with some glimpse on Latin Rock was mixed and mastered in London with the British producer Barry Sage (Solar’s previous producer on Play and Sabado, and a collaboration that lasts until this day), and was released the last week of 2006.

A few years later they recorded a double CD, Carretera (Highway, 2009), that combined experimental location and studio tracks, with a recording of a live show at “El Huevo” in Valparaíso. The track “Inolvidables” stands out beautifully as being recorded during a live DUOC workshop, and “Cajon de Maipo” being recorded completely on location in the mountains. The song Angel features the voice of pop artist Nicole, as well as other guests appearing throughout the album. The following work, Romeo (2011) was recorded in Madrid at the home studio of producer Barry Sage. On the track Sin Que Te Lo Pida was invited Tito Dávila, an experienced musician and vocal producer, and Los Enanitos Verdes ex member.

A more personal project, it was Alamedas last album before the band decided to go on a indefinite recession, in pursuit of parallel projects. The album has only ever been available as a digital product and is known by friends to be either the “unkown” Alamedas album or the “unknown” first album from Alejandro Gomez. Future revisions may quite possibly be retitled Romeo by Alejandro Gomez and Alamedas.
