Info zu An English Coronation, 1902-1953

Pomp & Circumstance: Es gibt wohl nur wenige gleichermaßen spektakuläre Zeremonien wie die Krönung eines englischen Monarchen. Die jahrhundertealte Liturgie und die zeremoniellen Riten wurden dabei früh durch ein eindrucksvolles Musikprogramm ausgeschmückt. Auch die vier Krönungen im 20. Jahrhundert waren aufwändige Feierlichkeiten, die gleichzeitig so etwas wie eine Verbindung von Tradition und Innovation darstellten, wie es wohl nur auf der Insel möglich ist. Die neue Produktion von Paul McCreesh und dem Gabrieli Consort stellt das musikalische Repertoire dieser Krönungen vor, das neben neu in Auftrag gegebenen Werken immer auch die glorreiche Vergangenheit der britischen Musik feiert.
