Diese Komposition für Violine und Cello entstand 2013 auf Anregung von Sol Gabetta. Anfang 2014 verbrachte ich einige Zeit in einem Meditationshaus in einem entlegenen Ort an der Ostsee. Dort erhielt das Streichduo schließlich seinen Titel. In Verehrung für die große Mystikerin und Heilige Teresa von Avila habe ich die Komposition „Castillo interior“ genannt. Die meditative Komposition wird zweimal von schnellen, energischen Sechzehntel-Passagen unterbrochen. Die spirituelle Vertikale, der Weg zum ewigem Licht, und genau daneben die Welt – so vielgestaltig und voller Widersprüche. (Pēteris Vasks, 2014)
