The Shelters

Biography The Shelters

The Shelters
Playing a mix of fuzzed-out garage and swaggering glam rock with a tinge of melodic blues, American rock & roll quartet the Shelters formed in Los Angeles in 2014. The original lineup included Chase Simpson, Josh Jove, and Sebastian Harris (all three are credited as performers on Tom Petty's 2014 album Hypnotic Eye). Later, they incorporated bassist Jacob Pillot. The trio released its first single, "Birdwatching," in mid-2015. In October of the same year, they released their debut self-titled EP. The four-song set caught the attention of Steven Van Zandt, who named lead single "Fortune Teller" the "Coolest Song in the World This Week!" on his radio show in February 2016. Petty invited the Shelters to support his band Mudcrutch on tour later that year. Petty would also go on to co-produce the band's debut self-titled LP. The Shelters featured the single "Rebel Heart" and was set for release in June 2016.
