Unter Daniel Barenboim veröffentlicht die Staatskapelle Berlin erstmals Elgars Chormeisterwerk The Dream of Gerontius.

Mit dieser einzigartigen Einspielung vervollständigt der Dirigent Barenboim in Zusammenarbeit mit der Staatskapelle Berlin seine langjährige und bejubelte Auseinandersetzung mit dem britischen Komponisten Edward Elgar. Der gewaltige Klangapparat der Staatskapelle Berlin wird durch den Opernchor der Staatsoper Berlin und den RIAS-Kammerchor ergänzt. Auch die Solisten wurden von Weltrang besetzt: Catherine Wyn-Rogers und Andrew Staples singen an der Seite von Thomas Hampson.

Aus dem Anlass, dass Barenboim gemeinsam mit der Staatskapelle Berlin am 15. und 16. Juli 2017 mit Elgars 1. und 2. Sinfonie bei den BBC Proms auftritt, wird The Dream of Gerontius veröffentlicht.
