Info zu Liebermann: Piano Trios

Jakob Alsgaard Bahr’s luminous piano intertwines with the twin sisters Karen Johanne Pedersen on violin and Kirstine Elise Pedersen on cello, three artists whose more than fifteen years of musical collaboration have blossomed into the flexible, boundary-stretching ensemble known as Tviburí. Their name, melding the Danish tvillinger (“twins”) with the evocative, invented suffix burí, speaks both to the Pedersens’ inseparable bond and the group’s dynamic spirit of unity, movement, and origin.

For this landmark album, Tviburí ventured to New York to work directly with Lowell Liebermann, whose warmth, humor, and insight unlocked fresh depths in his piano trios. “Collaborating with Lowell Liebermann was an unforgettable experience. His openness, humour, and insight gave us a deeper understanding of his music – and a strong connection to the emotional core of each trio. This recording is our way of sharing that experience with listeners,” says Tviburí. The result is the first complete recording of Liebermann’s chamber-music journey, each trio imbued with Tviburí’s expressive clarity and bold interpretive voice, culminating in the world-premiere recording of his Third Piano Trio, Op. 92, a work that reveals a composer fully at ease in his darkly lyrical and contrasting idiom.
